French Football Federation confirmed that Nicolas Anelka has been repatriated from South Africa. French striker was not going to defend the "Les Bleus" in the ultimate game of allowance for Group A against 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa, Tuesday (06/22/2010).
It turns out, Anelka is not used anymore because it is not commendable to coach Raymond Domenech. Chelsea striker was out of words disrespectful to the coach who asked not to be too backward when France survive.
Actually, the door is still open for Anelka pardon if he would admit a mistake and expressed regret. However, former Real Madrid striker was refused, so he was forced to return home in order to maintain the integrity of the team that is struggling out of the critical position.
With this incident, Anelka became the eighth player who returned from a World Cup. At the event, previous events, similar events also occur (returning players). Here's a list of players who never returned:
1. Sigmund Haringer, Germany, 1934
German defender was allegedly absent in the play-off grabbing the third position for the sake of fulfilling his desire to eat an orange at the train station platform, without permission. Federesi German Football (DFB) has denied this and said that the player sent home because of illness.
