Justin and his mom, Pattie, post videos of his performances on YouTube for family and friends. He is discovered there by the man who would become his manager, Scooter Braun. Justin is flown to Atlanta, where he meets his mentor, Usher, and signs with Island Def Jam Records.

"One Time" is the first single released to radio from his debut studio album, "My World." Usher guests on the "One Time" music video, which has been viewed more than 100 million times on the Internet.

On Monday's Fox telecast of the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, Justin Bieber and his perfectly placed bangs took home four surfboard trophies, for Male Artist, Album, Breakout Star and Summer Music Star. He grabbed that last award with competition including host Katy "California Gurls" Perry.
That same day, Justin became a spokesperson for Proactiv acne fighter, and People.com unveiled the cover of his upcoming book, "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story" (HarperCollins). His partnership with Proactiv will help fund schools in Third World countries, while his book comes with the message: "Lots of exclusive photos just for you. Love Justin xxx."
People.com says the book will tell of Justin's jet-setting lifestyle on his world tour, his road to stardom and personal anecdotes -- including his first date.
How does a 16-year-old come this far this fast without the Disney machine, a "Glee"-ful boost or the "Twilight" franchise to launch him?
