The public were eager for health advice yesterday at a health expo held by Southern Institute of Technology nursing students.
Second-year nursing student Joey Roberts said the expo had been fantastic.
There had been young children coming in with parents, through to the elderly, she said.
Her stall "Nightclubbing" had started the day with about 200 glow sticks to hand out and they were gone by 1pm, she said.
The stall advised people on how to protect their drinks and prevent STIs, when they were going out, and there was a demonstration of how quickly drugs could be dissolved in a drink, Ms Roberts said.
"People were like `oh my god' ... it was really effective."
Second-year nursing student Jess Oster said the day was a success.
Her stall, which tested how well people washed their hands by showing up bacteria, left the public very surprised, she said.
Visitor Jenny Cummings said she enjoyed the stalls.
The expo was part of the second-year nursing curriculum.
It was held at the Hansen Hall at the SIT main campus.
