New York Marathon 2010 - Nyc Marathon Results 2010 : NEW YORK - Gebre Gebremariam of Ethiopia and Kenyan Edna Kiplagat imposed today on the New York marathon.
Another Ethiopian, Haile Gebrselassie, the favorite to win, but left the world record holder at about 26 kilometers (16 miles) with a sore right knee.
Gebremariam became the first driver who immortalized in New York in debut in the marathon since 1991. He did it with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 13 seconds. He was escorted by Emmanuelle Mutain Kenya, to 1.04, and Moses Kigen Kipkosgei, becomes 2.24.
The Brazilian Marilson Gomes Dos Santos, winner of 2008, came sixth, 3.37.
Kiplagat, 31, using the time 2 hours, 28 minutes and 20 seconds to win the women's race.
In first marathon, American Shalane Flanagan finished second to second. bronze medal in the 10,000 meters at the Olympics, Flanagan was the first U.S. runner in between the two first since 1990. The Kenyan Mary Keitany, another debutant in the marathon, completed the podium.
Kiplagat ran alone near 39 miles (24 miles), three from the finish in Central Park. Flanegan crossed the line with a delay of 20 seconds and do Keitany 41.
